Great Novelty Cake Mold Mar 03, 2008
By Counselor4444 This is a great mold. It comes with a cake mix recipe, or you can use a boxed cake mix (which is what I did). I used DH Dark Chocolate Fudge Cake Mix.
Before baking the mix, coat the inside of the mold with butter or cooking spray. Then apply a light sprinkle of flour to cover the inside of the mold. (Tap lightly to remove excess flour).
Make the cake mix as directed on the box. Pour into the mold. Bake on a cookie sheet at 325 degrees for 40 minutes.
After 40 minutes, you will notice that the cake mix does not come up to the top of the mold. If you insert your spoon into the center of the cake, you will see it is still molten. Spoon out some of the insides and push up against the front door of the igloo and around the sides to make the shape more uniform. Put back into the oven.
Keep checking the igloo ever ten minutes thereafter with a toothpick to determine when it's finished. Mine was done after about an hour and ten minutes or so. After it completely cools, flip over onto a plate. It will fall right out of the mold. Dust with powdered sugar.
Is it a Cake, Ice-Cream, Gelatin, Ice Sculpture or Food Mold? Nov 28, 2009
By Southern Baker It's all of these and more. "Expect an avalanche of compliments" every time you create with this charming igloo mold. This mold has unparalleled flexibility that makes it easy to release perfectly formed shapes.
In addition to being oven safe up to 500 Degrees Fahrenheit, the mold is freezer, refrigerator, microwave & dishwasher safe. While providing a wonderful shape for producing a unique winter cake, you can make food molds any time of year, ice-cream molds for birthday parties, ice-sculptures to cool things off by the pool, and jell-o molds for the little ones. The recipes and instructions for making the cake include directions for making Marzipan Penguins to decorate and embellish the finished product. The box provides tons of detailed reference and should not be tossed.
