Nice crisp punch-out, but phrases make tricky borders Jul 08, 2010

I bought this punch as a border punch without really considering the implications of card sizes that aren't an exact multiple of the phrase Happy*/Birthday. On my first attempt at a border, I got a top line that read: 'PY * HAPPY * HAPP' and a bottom line that read: 'HDAY BIRTHDAY BIRTH.'
However, this deep edge punch does produce a nice cut-out that you could use as a greeting in the center of your card. That's what I ended up doing with my Martha Stewart Crafts Deep Edge Happy Birthday punch (see image of greeting card I uploaded for this product.) It makes crisp cuts as long as you apply enough pressure (I was working with 80 lb card stock), and if you do decide to use the punch to make a border, it is easy to line up what you've already punched with what you're going to punch.
I'm definitely going to give Martha's other deep edge punches a closer look.
