Exactly what she wanted Jun 09, 2012
I got this for the wife. The product does exactly as expected, it cuts out adorable detailed little butterflies if that's your thing. Everything that we mail out now has a butterfly glued to it...thank you-cards, birthday cards, credit card payments. Everything.

Beautiful Punch outs but leaves a lot of unused paper and needs a lot of force to use Feb 12, 2010
It is a very detailed cut out of a butterfly. You need a good amount of force to actually get it the cutout. A child would not be able to use it. It also wastes a lot of paper. The square that keeps the metal plates for the cut out does not allow for maximum paper use. It is a little on the heavy side but you are purchasing a large punch out. Overall, with patience, I enjoy this product. I really love butterflies so I'm happy.

works very well Feb 25, 2011
i bought this and used it to punch quite literally hundreds of butterflies for my friends baby shower. After a good deal of use it still works well. I own many paper punches, and this one works just as easily as the others i have. it's a cute design and a very versatile size. i used it for invitations, cupcake toothpick toppers, and magnets. i thought it was an economical purchase considering all the places i used it.

Need Strong Hands - Not for Arthritis Sufferers Feb 29, 2012
You really need strong hands to make this work. This seems to be a common theme with butterfly punches, however. I think it might be because of the intricate cuts that are needed.
I own another butterfly punch (EK Success large butterfly) and it requires every once of strength I have to use it - and I'm young and don't have arthritis. It never punches all the way through and I always end up having to cut it our in some places with scissors.
I got this punch because of the Martha Stewart name - I own tons of Martha Stewart punches (edge, corner, shapes, etc.) and they are amazing. A little pricey, but worth every penny. My little daughter even uses them with no difficulties.
This punch, however, is not like that. It requires a bit more strength to work than Martha's other punches. In the end, however, the punch does go all the way through and the butterfly is gorgeous! I paired this up with Martha Stewart's All Over the Page butterfly punch (which is a silhouette of a butterfly), I fold the wings on this butterfly in at the body and attach it to the silhouette, and it makes a beautiful 3-D presentation. A little glitter on the butterfly also makes it pop.
Overall, I'm happy with the punch - but give it a 4 star because of the strength it takes to work the punch.

Disappointed Sep 11, 2010
By Heather V
I've had good luck with the Martha punches, but this one leaves a lot to be desired.
1. You can't see where you are punching. It would be nice if there was some way to tell where you are punching and to make sure you have your paper in properly if you are only using a scrap.
2. I can't figure out why (probably because of item 1!), but it pinches the surrounding paper. Since the three items (flower, thank and you) are not connected to each other (and small so makes it difficult to adhere to something) I thought I'd use the silhouette left by the words on a card. Sounds great, but since it pinches that paper on one side, that paper is damaged and can't be used.
3. Because the image is right side up instead of upside down and doesn't have a long reach, you can't punch it out of a card even if you didn't have the problem with item 2 like I did! You'd have to cut it out of a strip or square of paper and adhere that to the card.
All in all, very disappointed!!
