Pretty but SO hard to punch Apr 11, 2012
By pinklady I love this punch for its prettiness, but HATE it for being so hard to use.
I bought this in addition to another Martha Stewart classic butterfly punch. The classic one was so easy and could be used for a hard card stock. On the other hand, the monarch one was so hard that I had to ask my husband to do it for me. And even he gave up after punching a few butterlies.
I thought there was something wrong with the product and, in an attempt to make it easier to handle, took the rubber piece out of the punch. Now I cannot even return the product. Sigh...

Are the defect? Nov 28, 2012
By S. Vargas I have bought several of these punches only to be forced to return them. Like other customers found they didn't punch all the way through. Saw this black piece of rubber near the blade and blame it for not letting it punch well. None of my other numerous MS punches have that and I am thinking that the rubber is a defect from the manufacturing process. Does anyone share this thought? Hopefully Martha Stewart people are listening because I really would love to have this punch...

Doesn't work Oct 01, 2011
By G. Parker I have tried everything to make this punch work. It only cuts part way through the paper, leaving the butterfly attached at two tiny spots.

Hopefully, you get a good one. Jan 26, 2012
By Aaron J. Garcia The first one I got did not punch completely through and and like the other person's review, left it attached at two places. The second one I got (purchased at store) worked better but now it is starting to get dull (or maybe warped?) after several hundred uses and staying attached to the paper and not punching out out the inside design completely; trying to get them unattached causes tearing/frayed edges unless you cut them out, preferably with a craft knife. You're best bet is to open up in store and make sure the punch clamps all the way through (I know, not a "nice" thing to do); I found two that did not and finally found one that worked. I think the butterflies are worth it, especially if you get a better constructed one. I love the design and will keep my out for a similar design/butterfly punch and see how that one goes. I have purchased many other Martha Stewart brand punches and this particular butterfly design is the only one that's problematic it seems.
