Great for canning labels Dec 21, 2011
By Miriam Rouziek I'd been searching for nice labels for my home-canned jams and marmalades, but with no success. All I could find were sticker-type labels, and those don't always come off cleanly when I re-use a jar. As I was in line at a local Michael's craft store (with a circular cutter and some doilies, intent on making my own), I saw these and took a pack home. I am really pleased with the quality of these tags. Unfortunately, they seem to be hot sellers at Michael's because they were out the next time I went, and the Martha Stewart Crafts website didn't have any of the plain white style (only Halloween colors). I ended up ordering several packs of these from the Fabrics.com seller here on Amazon.
The tags themselves are made of thick high-quality paper, with a clean die-cut design. These work great for hand-written labels or stamped designs, they can be painted or colored or used plain, or they can be made into gift tags and tied to a gift (or jar) with a bit of ribbon or string. They fit perfectly for the regular-mouth jar lids -- I unscrew the band, put my label on the lid, and then screw down the band on top. For wide-mouth jar lids, you can tie these to the jar with a ribbon or string, or glue the label down to the lid with a drop of hot glue.
